A major component of applying for the military is having to complete aptitude or ability testing. For many this is a significant step and the cause of much anxiety. Questions about testing are amongst the most commonly asked questions both of recruiting staff and on internet forums.
For the Australian Defence Force the main testing for is done at a YOU Session and comprises of a test of General Ability and a test of Mathematics.
To help people applying for the military Defence Recruitment.com has produced an E-Guide on "Aptitude Testing for the Australian Defence Force" which is highly recommended as part of your preparation for completing testing for the ADF. To help you further Defence Recruitment.com has developed a series of Practice Tests aimed at providing you with practice questions that are specific to the type of testing you will undertake.
Our Practice Tests have a couple of major advantages over other tests available on the internet.
Firstly our tests are prepared by people with significant experience in recruitment testing. They understand what the ADF testing is about and what you are being tested on.
Secondly, the questions are matched to the type of questions you will complete at the YOU session. When preparing for testing many people search for “aptitude testing” or “ability testing” and the results are huge. The problem is that there are many different types of questions contained in aptitude or ability tests and many of them are not used in the YOU session tests. This means a lot of wasted time and effort on your part in practicing questions that you will never need to know. Defence Recruitment.com have developed four tests to help you practice. The first three - Verbal, Numerical and Spatial - are designed to help you prepare for the ADF's test of General Ability. The fourth test is on mathematics and designed to help you prepare for the second test you will have to do at a YOU session, the test of mathematics.

How do I purchase the practice tests?
Once you have logged into Defence Recruitment.com as a member you can click the link in your User Menu to access the list of Practice Tests. Simply click on the Buy Now button to add the tests to you shopping basket. When you have added the tests you want go to the Checkout to complete your transaction.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We only use PayPal for all transactions due to the security and the protections it offers to buyers. PayPal allows you to purchase items using either a credit card or a bank account. It is free and setting up an account to pay using a bank account is quick and easy.
But I don't have a PayPal account, how can I pay?
You don't need a PayPal account, nor do you have to set one up. All you need is a credit card. Because of the security and protection PayPal offers we use PayPal to accept payments. If you want to use a credit card you can do so on the PayPal website. When you confirm your order on our website you will be taken direct to the PayPal secure website. To pay with a credit card just ignore the login and click on the continue button at the bottom left.
I have added the tests to my cart, gone to the checkout and received a Purchase Order in my email, why can't I access the tests?
After you complete the checkout procedure on our site two things will occur. You will be emailed a Purchase Order from Defence Recruitment.com with your order details and the status of Pending and you will be automatically sent to the PayPal website to complete payment. You will not be able to access the tests until you complete payment on the PayPal website. After you have completed payment PayPal will email you an invoice for your purchase and you can return to Defence Recruitment.com to access the tests.
How soon after purchasing the practice tests will I be able to use them?
Each practice test you purchase is available for you to use as soon as you have completed payment in PayPal. Once the payment goes through you can navigate back to the list of tests and the "Buy Now" button will have changed to "Take Course". Click this button and away you go!
Where are the tests and how do I access them?
The tests are installed on this website and you access them through the website. They are not hard copy tests nor do we mail or email anything to you. The tests are run through software on this website that allows you to access them from anywhere. Click here for some instructions on accessing the tests (Right click and Save As)
